Darning Sampler, 1843

This is a Darning sampler. It is dated 1843 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk embroidery on cotton foundation and its technique is embroidered in running and cross stitches on plain weave foundation; hemmed with overcasting over withdrawn element work. It is a part of the Textiles department.
