Saturn Disc Tape Dispenser

This is a tape dispenser. It was designed by Peter Haythornthwaite and manufactured by Artifakts. It is dated 1985 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is metal, plastic, rubber. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Here we have a sleek, all black radio. It has a rectangular base that curves into a long, ovoid arc at the top. Width-wise, it is extremely thin. The front has two speakers on the left and right made of a square grid of dots near the bottom of the radio. There is a window-like opening in the center of the radio to reveal a minimal console with controls. The console has four spherical buttons: the center, largest button is the AM/FM tuner. To the left and right are smaller blue buttons, and above the tuner is the volume adjustment. To the right of the window opening is a button that runs along the top of the arc.
