Melton Pitcher

This is a pitcher. It was manufactured by Wedgwood. It is dated ca. 1875–85 and we acquired it in 1999. Its medium is glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Brooklyn Museum. It is credited Gift of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Paul F. Walter Collection.

H x W x D: 19.5 x 14.2 x 8.6cm (7 11/16 x 5 9/16 x 3 3/8in.)

It has the following markings

On base, brown underglaze: "MELTON / [unicorn trademark] / WEDGWOOD & CO. [in a banner] / IV / 30 / 12 Rd R / C [in a shield]"
