iPad 2 Tablet Computer

This is a Tablet computer. It was designed by Apple Industrial Design Team and manufactured by Apple Inc. and the design director was Jonathan Ive. It is dated 2011 and we acquired it in 2012. Its medium is aluminum, arsenic-free glass, plastic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Apple’s iPad 2, introduced in March, 2011, marks further advances in tablet software and hardware. Thanks to front- and rear-facing cameras, the iPad 2 can produce images and video and show them in a comfortably large format. The body is lighter and slimmer than that of the first-generation iPad, and example of which is in the museum's collection.
The acquisition of the iPad 2 would contribute to the museum's continued ability to tell the rapidly-evolving story of contemporary technology and industrial design. The tablet would join other products by Apple, as well as earlier examples of handheld computing.

This object was donated by Apple Inc.. It is credited Gift of Apple.
