Gown And Turban

This is a Gown and turban. It was designed by Bill Gaytten and made for Christian Dior.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco as part of Contemporary Muslim Fashions.

It is dated Spring Collection 2012. Its medium is silk gauze, net, pearl and glass beads, knit. It is a part of the department.


To create this elegant gown, the beaded top of one ensemble from Christian Dior’s Spring 2020 runway show was paired with the full pleated skirt of another. With sleeves added, it was worn by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al Missned to an Italian state-visit banquet in Rome in 2012.
