Brooch, 2015

This is a brooch. It was designed by Kazumi Nagano. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is folded linen paper, nylon thread, gold wire, silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

For this brooch, Nagano wove linen paper on a handloom and folded it into a curvaceous three dimensional form utilizing the traditional Japanese technique of origami.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
