Light, Skin vs G-Star Tension, 2014

This is a Light. It was designed by Pepe Heykoop.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Pepe Heykoop as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.

It is dated 2014. Its medium is jeans, two lamps, melting pot, water-based adhesive.

This light uses a random collection of elements—lamps, denim, and a melting pot—to create an object unlike anything that we might think of as a light. The discarded elements that make up the structural base are given a new identity by being wrapped in denim, while the individual lamps are connected in a way that creates a new object. The pieces are held by angular supports that provide a precarious but balanced appearance.

It is credited Courtesy of Pepe Heykoop.
