Drawing, Communion at Church
This is a Drawing. It was created by Jan van der Straet, called Stradanus. It is dated ca. 1595 - 1605 and we acquired it in 1901. Its medium is recto: pen and brown ink, brush and black wash over black chalk on paper verso: pen and brown ink, brush and brown and black washes, over black chalk on laid paper . It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Binding evidence: Three stitching holes run along the left edge of the sheet when viewing the recto. Blank space along this same margin on both the recto and the verso suggests that the sheet was bound into a sketchbook when the drawings were made.
It is credited Museum purchase through gift of various donors.
