Medallion (Egypt), 5th–7th century

This is a Medallion. It is dated 5th–7th century and we acquired it in 1902. Its medium is warp: paired s-spun linen; wefts: s-spun linen, s-spun wools; linen backing and its technique is plain weave with discontinuous weft (slit tapestry) with supplementary weft wrapping. It is a part of the Textiles department.
