Map Sampler (England), late 18th century

This is a Map sampler. It is dated late 18th century and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is silk on silk and its technique is stem, chain, satin, running and knot stitches on 8-harness satin foundation which the globes were printed; uncounted stitches. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Unknown. It is credited Gift of Anonymous Donor from the Fraser/Martin Collection.
