Sampler (England)

This is a Sampler. It is dated mid–late 16th century and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is linen embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered with withdrawn element work with needlemade fillings using looping and overcasting. in top three bands elements have been removed in one direction (horizontal) only. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
