Fragment (England)

This is a Fragment. It was company: Miles & Edwards. It is dated ca. 1830 and we acquired it in 1996. Its technique is block printed on plain weave foundation; block registration marks visible. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

Warp x Weft: 32 x 89.5 cm (12 5/8 x 35 1/4 in.)

It is inscribed

"134 Oxford St MILES & EDWARDS" with crown within frame in black. on either side of this mark is a block printed anthemion frieze in red. "R.Turner" twice, once in brown, once in yellow. "H.E" in pale brown. "J.C" in green. Handwritten in ink, "25 1/2".
