Ingots To Finished Handmade "Hanoverian" Dessert Fork (England), 1999

This is a Ingots to finished handmade "Hanoverian" dessert fork. It is dated 1999 and we acquired it in 2005. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This group of objects documents progressive stages in the production of a handmade silver fork, from ingot to finished product, which involves the making and sharpening of tines; the art of making tines was not possessed by many silversmiths capable of making spoons. This line of production remains the same today as it was the 18th century and is produced by a successor firm to the original 18th-century manufacturer. This group was made for James Robinson, Inc.

This object was donated by James Robinson, Inc.. It is credited Gift of James Robinson, Inc..
