The Image (Das Bild) Brooch
This is a brooch. It was designed by Otto Künzli. It is dated 1981 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is postcard in acrylic sleeve, brass, rubber band. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
By simply putting a clip-frame on a postcard, Künzli transformed the image into a wearable and exchangeable brooch. The act becomes a critical inquiry into what adornment means today while also using the “brooch” to document an experience or event that is conducive to discovery.
