Vase (USA)
This is a vase. It was produced by Tiffany Studios. It is dated ca. 1903-04 and we acquired it in 1966. Its medium is mold-blown favrile glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Tiffany’s characteristic organic forms and shimmering, favrile glass find expression in these miniature vases, possibly produced for foreign markets. The company’s export trade was limited due to taxes and the cost of shipping. Nonetheless, a number of these small-scale objects, most no larger than 2½ inches tall, found their way abroad.
