Map of Venice Brooch

This is a brooch. It was designed by Stefano Marchetti. It is dated 1999 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is inlaid copper, silver, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Marchetti uses a mosaic-like metal inlay technique in his Map of Venice brooch, which is an imaginative abstracted representation of the shimmering waters of this fabled city.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
