Poster, Zbieg z Alcatraz [Point Blank]
Due to Poland’s complicated political history under Communism, freedom of creative expression and exposure to Western culture could be quite limited. This film poster was a means to communicate ideas and concepts more freely, as they were not as closely monitored by the state. Polish poster artists developed their own individual styles in the absence of any influence. Posters displayed a high degree of innovation and artistry, elevating the medium to a means of artistic expression equal to painting or printmaking.
